Richard B. Cheney is a distinguished American businessman, public servant and politician. Cheney is a recognizable person in Washington over the years. George W. Bush was the fourth president to whom he served. Bush chose Cheney during the summer of 2000 as his vice-presidential running partner, being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff to presidents. He also worked for the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served the country in a variety of positions. Both Republicans and Democrats appreciate his integrity. Cheney has said that he regards the role of an honest and discreet adviser to Bush's administration. Cheney expressed his excitement at accepting the Republican vice-presidential nod. Cheney said the future is bright for him working with a person who is able to work together with people of different political views and with shared objectives. Richard Bruce Cheney (born January 30 1941) was the son Richard Herbert Cheney. His mother, Marjorie Lauraine Dickey had been engaged to Richard Herbert Cheney for over 30 years. As a 13-year-old, Richard Bruce accompanied his parents from Nebraska to Casper (in the US state of Wyoming) which is where his father was director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's land conservation districts.
